Hello everyone and welcome to 2010! This year is
going to be an exciting year for GULS education with plenty of social and
academic events planned for you. I encourage you to actively involve yourself
in the events throughout the year, to make new friends and learn as much as you
can.
Mentoring Program
The first year mentoring program is also a great
opportunity to make some great new friends and have an older student (usually
from 4th or 5th year) to ask any questions you may have
about study, law or life. It is a fun way to learn and make friends (plus we
have lots of social events especially for mentees and mentors).
For graduate entry students we have organised a
separate program with two wine and cheese evenings planned for semester 1. You
will be able to meet other 2nd or 3rd year graduate entry
students can ask them any questions you may have. It’s also a great networking
opportunity!
Sign up for the mentoring program will be open
until the 10th March (week 2). You can sign up at the L-card sales
booth during orientation week or by sending me an e-mail
(stephanie.read@guls.org).
The Hopgood Ganim First Year Seminar Series
For first years we are holding special seminars to provide helpful
information to succeed in your first year at law school. This year we will be holding five first
year seminars with the help of our sponsor Hopgood
Ganim. Three of these seminars will be held in Semester 1 and the remaining
two will be in Semester 2.
